FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PALMER, MASS. (February 1, 2012) - The following is a statement from the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority

The Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority condemns the recent anonymous attacks on public officials, community leaders and individuals based on their views or positions regarding resort casino gaming.

The chairman of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission has established the framework for a careful, deliberative and fair-minded process that ensures public confidence. We look forward to competing for the Western Massachusetts gaming license within that framework – based on the strength of our proposal, our track record and our vision for job growth and economic development for Palmer and the entire region.

MOHEGAN SUN SIGNS DEAL WITH PIONEER VALLEY BUILDING TRADES COUNCIL AND CARPENTERS LOCAL 108

Memorandums of understanding ensure more than a thousand new union jobs on the construction of Mohegan Sun Palmer

PALMER, MASS. (June 27, 2011) - Mohegan Sun today announced it has signed memorandums of understanding with the Pioneer Valley Building Trades Council and Carpenters Local 108 of the New England Council of Carpenters that will ensure the use of union labor on the proposed Mohegan Sun Palmer casino resort.

"This is an important milestone for Mohegan Sun Palmer, and the fulfillment of a commitment we made to the people of Western Massachusetts," said Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority CEO Mitchell Etess. "The Pioneer Valley Building Trades Council and Carpenters Local 108 have long been critical voices for union workers, and major supporters of bringing new jobs to the region with Mohegan Sun Palmer."

These agreements ensure that all labor on Mohegan Sun Palmer that is within the trade jurisdiction of the Pioneer Valley Building Trades Council - such as bricklayers, sheet metal workers, electrical workers or within the trade jurisdiction of the Carpenters Local 108 - will be performed by union workers. It also sets forth a process through which a project labor agreement will be negotiated between the PVBTC, Carpenters Local 108 and Mohegan Sun, or the project's general contractor.

"I am excited we have this agreement with Mohegan Sun, and look forward to the role union labor will play in bringing world class destination resort gaming to the region," said Pioneer Valley Building Trades Council President Dan D'Alma.

Mohegan Sun Palmer, which would be located off Exit 8 on the Massachusetts Turnpike and feature a world class hotel, casino gaming and a variety of restaurants and retail stores, is expected to create 1,000 to 1,200 construction jobs and 2,500 to 3,000 permanent jobs. Mohegan Sun is also committed to hiring and buying locally - a practice it has already implemented at its facilities in Connecticut and Pennsylvania, which totals nearly $500 million in goods and services each year.

"Destination resort gaming will bring much needed jobs and economic growth to the region, and we're pleased to announce this agreement that ensures union labor's role in the project," said Jason Garand, Business Manager for the Carpenters Local 108 of the New England Council of Carpenters.

PALMER, MASS. (October 21, 2009) - Mohegan Sun announced today that it will host a series of community conversations in Western Massachusetts about its plans for a destination casino resort in Palmer. The fist of these meetings is scheduled for Tuesday, October 27 at the Sheraton Springfield Monarch Place Hotel.

Mohegan Sun hopes to develop a world-class destination casino resort on a parcel of land adjacent to the Massachusetts Turnpike in Palmer. The project would feature a 600-room hotel and spa, casino gaming and internationally-known and branded retail stores and restaurants.

A destination casino resort in Palmer is expected to create 1,000 to 1,200 construction jobs and 2,500 to 3,000 permanent jobs - with the majority of the required workforce expected to come from Greater Springfield, the Palmer area and elsewhere in Western Massachusetts. Local businesses, community organizations and members of the public are invited to attend the event, which runs from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Mohegan Sun officials will discuss the proposed Palmer casino project, talk about employment in the resort casino industry and be available to answer questions.

"A destination casino resort in Palmer has tremendous potential to bring jobs, tourism and other regional economic growth to Western Massachusetts," said Jeff Hartmann, Chief Operating Officer at Mohegan Sun. "We opened an office in Palmer to get to know the community and to give local residents the opportunity to learn more about us. With our first community conversation in Springfield we hope to continue this process and provide a sense of the positive impact this project would have for the entire region."

Studies have shown that the highest possible tax revenues and the largest number of jobs are created with the building and operation of a high-quality destination casino resort. Mohegan Sun invites the public, business leaders and other community organizations and officials to stop by the Springfield Sheraton for refreshments and a discussion about one of the most significant economic opportunities for the region.

The Community Conversation takes place Tuesday, October 27th, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Sheraton Springfield Monarch Place Hotel, located at 1 Monarch Place, Springfield.
